Down pipe installation

Here is a typical down pipe installation. It will be a wet sump installation. Note the water being directed to the corner of the Sludge Buster for maximum filtration efficiency. Also note the angles that a long drop into the Sludge Buster that prevent splashing in the first filter area. A nice feature the home ower wanted to add were drain holes in the drain to the street. I would be judicious in where the holes are for fear of leaves never making it to the street.

Sludge File : Mylor

Getting the best from any Sludge Buster installation requires a bit of thought. The orientation of the incoming water to shoot directly into the sieve corner is pretty important. When Dave asked me to come up to his new property at Mylor, initially I was concerned at the magnitude of the roof area. Dave has a total of four 90mm feeds to his 50,000 litre plus tank. There are two pairs to different sides of the big tank. From his house there are a pair of 90mm and there is a pair from the implement shed. The same layout will work well for both sides. Firstly the incoming flow is directed to the corner of the Sludge Buster sieve. If the Sludge Busters were flipped the incoming water would clear the internal sieve and there would be too much water going to waste. Secondly the manifold across the bottom will allow a good flush out of the wet sump when the caps are removed. Sludge Busted.
